All music genres have had an influence on music, but also fashion, culture, society, and other norms. However, whether for better or worse, no music genre has influenced the world as rock and roll did and still does.
It’s fascinating that of the many rock bands that have hit the stage since the 50s, only a few of them have become legendary. What’s even more fascinating is that some of them are still rocking stages all across the globe. This fact is exciting since all you have to do is to buy tickets and you can see rock legends performing in front of you and your friends!
Picking the top four greatest rock bands would be extremely challenging, but choosing the ones still performing is much easier and more practical since you can watch them perform.
So, let’s see who these rock bands are.
The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones is arguably the best rock band of all time, although they were placed 2nd on the ‘’Greatest Artists of All Time’’ list by Billboard in 2019.
This rock band has had massive success worldwide, but it also influences the rock music scene even today after being on the music scene for over 60 years.
Unfortunately, their legendary drummer Charlie Watts passed away recently, but the other three musketeers are still rocking. Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, and Ronnie Wood recently had their 60th-anniversary tour, and new touring dates will come soon.
The Stones have sold more than 200 million records worldwide, and some of their most famous rock hits include “Start Me Up,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction,” and many more.
Queen
Yes, Queen will never be the band it was when Freddie Mercury was still among us, but the band still tours all over the globe, usually with singer Adam Lambert.
This legendary band had a tremendous influence on music in general but also on the movie industry since many Queen songs and beats have been used as the theme music in both short and major Hollywood movies.
In fact, Queen’s music is excellent for almost everything since this music is great for studying, dancing with friends, singing alone and with others, having fun, etc.
Queen was able to sell around 300 million records all over the world, and it’s not a surprise since the original band members were Freddie on vocals, Roger Taylor on drums, Brian May on guitar, and John Deacon on bass. Deacon unfortunately also doesn’t play with Queen anymore after Freddie passed away.
Queen has many famous tracks, but some of the most legendary ones are ‘’Bohemian Rhapsody’’, ‘’We Will Rock You’’, ‘’We Are the Champion’’, among many others.
Guns N’ Roses
One of the biggest news in the music industry in the last few years was when GNR announced their reunion with the ‘’Not in This Lifetime… Tour’’ back in 2016.
This legendary band began its musical journey in 1985 in Los Angeles, and since then, they have been traveling worldwide. Of course, the band members have changed over the years, and even when the reunion finally happened, some of the original members didn’t participate.
However, Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff are back together, which was a pleasant surprise for millions of GNR fans worldwide. Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler aren’t back in the band but be as it may, they are still phenomenal when they hit the stage. Also, GNR has new touring dates, so it would be a pity to miss this opportunity.
Guns N’ Roses is known for its electrifying rock hits such as ‘’Sweet Child O’ Mine’’ and ‘’Paradise City’’ and their beautiful rock ballads like ‘’November Rain’’.
Deep Purple
Deep Purple is fourth on the list, but an equally fantastic band.
This impressive rock band began in 1968, and their first mega-hit was ‘’Hush’’ with their original vocalist Rod Evans. However, the line-up changed after a few albums with Ian Gillan as lead singer, Ian Paice on drums, Jon Lord on keyboards, Roger Glover on bass, and Ritchie Blackmore on guitar.
In the following years, Deep Purple became one of the best rock bands of their time, and today, they are one of the greatest rock bands ever. Even though highly successful and creative, the tensions between Blackmore and Gillan became a rotten apple and the band ultimately broke up in 1976. Luckily for the fans, they came back in 1984 and haven’t stopped since.
Today’s members are Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Ian Gillan, Don Airey, and Simon McBride. And if you buy Deep Purple tickets, they will perfectly perform some of the greatest band hits like ‘’Some on the Water’’, ‘’Hush’’, ‘’Highway Star’’, and many more!
It would be like a dream to see at least one of these bands perform live. So what are you waiting for, buy concert tickets and make your dream come true!
