Many a person confuses himself that fluency is about how fast you speak something. I would not say they are wrong, but I would also not say that they are completely correct. Fluency is not about how fast you can speak whatever you think or feel. It is about how clearly you can say what you have on your mind. When you are a learner of the English language, you should keep in mind that fluency does not come at once. You need to keep practicing spoken English so that you get comfortable with speaking English and when you get comfortable with a language fluency is hardly a step far from you. In this blog, I am going to share some of the steps that you can inculcate in your mundane habits to become fluent in the English language but before that I want you to know that fluency is not only about how well you speak rather how clear you are with your thoughts. This is one of the basics that you yourself need to understand because no one is going to tell you until your teacher or mentor that you have higher to train you to become fluent that fluency is not meant by the clarity of words but rather the clarity of thoughts. I hope that you understand it is just a language that you Express yourself in with a whole new set of vocabulary. Here are some of the tips that would help you become a good speaker for sure and a fluent one when you practice them without constantly looking at the goal that is achieving fluency.
Look for the vocabulary wherever you find it.
This is one of the requirements of a language that you need to have a good set of vocabulary before you start your journey of fluency because fluency does not come with limited vocabulary. As you are going to use the same words over and over again it’s going to sound boring and uninteresting no matter how good a speaker you are or how great your thoughts are. However, if you are going to learn the words that you are not going to use at all until you come across the rare scenarios that might take place anytime, you are just going to waste your time in futility of knowledge as it is unlimited and you can never get enough of it. So, you should be learning the words that you can use in the constantly recurring instances. Here is a website that can help you with the vocabulary that you can practice in your daily life. Listen to other speakers who are native to the English language.
When I say native speakers, you don’t have to confuse yourself with the citizens of the US or any western country. Native speakers are not the speakers basically who have been speaking this language since their childhood rather now it is just a benchmark for all the language learners and you can find native English speakers around you just by opening one of the applications on your smartphone like YouTube or Facebook. Listen to the way they speak English. You might find that they sound natural whenever they talk about anything. Try to mimic them or repeat after them whatever they say.
Practice by speaking about lengthy topics.
This is something that is going to help you in the long run. When you talk about anything for at least two or three minutes without having to stop for thinking about what to say next, it is going to seem a bit hard in the beginning, but it is going to make you habitual of speaking for a long time. When you practice speaking English like this once or twice a day for a month, you are going to see the difference in your speech, fluency, intonation, etc.
Practice these three things and in no time, you are going to become a fluent speaker. The most important thing is giving time to it. If you just practice set for a week or so, you may not find satisfactory results because everything that makes you better, takes some time to be inculcated.
