Twitch is one of the most used platforms in recent times. It was founded a decade ago and has become very famous among the streaming community, especially gamers.
The streamers have been very active on Twitch, that they sometimes streamed for several hours together. In such a platform, you could imagine the kind of attention twitch streamers would need. Battling for viewers, subscriber count, and attention, streamers time and again set and broke various records.
Boosted by the pandemic-related lockdown, the audience base grew immensely on the platform. This led to many creators and streamers creating and recreating history. Some of the records set include the longest twitch stream, subathon streams, and most subscribers and viewers milestones.
Continue reading to know about the current record holders and milestones achieved by streamers.
Most subscribers on Twitch
The most subscribers count has an interesting history. While 2018 saw records being created and broken within a couple of months, the record made in April that year remained unbroken until 2021.
The new record holder had surpassed the record by an additional 13,912 subscriber count. In April 2018, Ninja became the twitch streamer with the most subscribers with a total of 269,154 people subscribing to his channel.
Ludwig Ahgren has set the world record for highest subscribers with 283,066 as of April 2021. It was previously held by Geekandsundry with 55,349 subscribers as of February 2018, and Tyler 1 with 36,666 subscribers during the same period.
Unlike followers, subscribers can increase or decrease at any time. So the most number of subscribers indicates the streamer’s popularity during that particular period. For instance, when Ludwig Ahgren made the record, following a very successful subathon in 2021.
Longest subathon on Twitch
Subathon is more of a combination of words than one term. Subathon stands for a subscriber marathon. It was all predominantly started by Ahgren. He began his subathon stream on March 14, 2021. In his subathon, the clock kept running and every new subscribe to his channel added ten or fifteen seconds to the timer.
So, here is how it worked. He started a streaming service with a 20-second timer. When every new person subscribes, the stream would extend 10 or 15 seconds longer. In that way, he received several subscribers and this stunt of his also made him popular on the platform overnight.
It was then followed by PandaTV streaming for 840 hours straight. It was then broken by PappiEric with a 45-day subathon. Atheena then completed 47 days, which was broken by the current record holder Emilycc having over 140+ days of subathon stream.
Longest stream on Twitch
So this is the most fun part of the record list. The longest twitch stream. Having the longest stream record overall is the biggest record one could get on Twitch.
The record for the longest stream was initially set by Los Pollos TV in April 2020 with 200 hours of live streaming, which was eclipsed by CallMeCypher streamed for 200 hours straight plus 18 minutes and 17 seconds, however, his stream got disconnected due to technical difficulties.
After this, Reecesy streamed live and broke the record for the longest stream by streaming live for 200 hours, 30 minutes, and 28 seconds. Reecesy was not a very popular streamer then, he had only 7.5k followers who enjoyed watching him play Valorant, Fortnite, etc. He later said that he has officially broken the World Record for the longest live stream and ended his live. He had broadcasted for eight days streaming mostly Valorant, Marbles, and just chatting. He stopped streaming soon after he broke the record. Sharing his experiences, he had then noted that it was 8 insane days of streaming and thanked the streaming community for watching.
But we have a very clear holder, GPHustla has had the longest twitch stream, a single uninterrupted broadcast. He is one clear record holder because he has surpassed 200 hours of live streaming and has set a record that is most unlikely to be broken in the next few years. He has streamed for over 15,200 hours.
In one of his live streams, he said “I’m so excited every day. I kinda don’t want to stop. He wanted to be the streamer who is always on Twitch. You can visit GPHustla’s channel at any moment of the day, and he will be online. As he said, he went on to become a 24/7 live streamer where he played games, talked to people in chats, holding parties for whoever was watching the stream. Surprisingly, his stream over several days did not see him live streaming from just a room. He carried the camera around as he performed all of his daily activities, like going to the grocery store.
But the longest uninterrupted stream was rather stopped by an unfortunate event. GPHustla’s account got accidentally banned due to some reason.
This record is for solo streamers. If we go beyond that, we have the Streamer House channel which claims to have been continuously streaming since 2013.
Most Followed Twitch Channels
As of July 2022, there are many twitch channels that have earned a lot of followers. Ninja is leading with the most Twitch followers – over 18 million. They are followed by Auron Play and Rubis. Next is Ludwig Ahgren who took the platform by storm with his subathon and most subscribers. After these channels, we have Tfue and xQc following them closely with over 10 million followers.
And after them, you have a bunch of twitch girls who are popular we all know why!
Summing Up The Records
So as of July 2022, while the records keep counting, we have certain streamers leading the award. Though GPHustla’s account got accidentally banned, his record for an overall longest stream of 15000+ hours will remain a record to break. He is currently streaming 24*7 on YouTube, building his base there.
The most number of subscribers record is tightly held by Ludwig Ahgren with 283,066 subscribers.
Similarly, in the top stories, is the longest subathon which is held by Emilycc who has over 140+ subathon streaming.
